3.0 temblor hits Scurry County Friday

Scurry County experienced a 3.0-magnitude earthquake at about 8:09 p.m. Friday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey website.
Data on the site reports the quake was centered about 9.94 miles north of Snyder, at coordinates 32.869 degrees north, 100.935 degrees west. The quake occurred at about 3/4 mile below the surface of the earth, according to the USGS report.
The Scurry County Law Enforcement Center recorded no calls reporting damage or injuries related to the earthquake.
The most recent previous quakes were registered in late September/early October of 2019, when a series of four quakes ranging from 2.5 to 4.0 in magnitude struck Scurry County approximately 12 miles north of Snyder.
The largest earthquake in Scurry County history measured 4.3 magnitude, and was recorded on Sept. 11, 2011.
