Type 2 Diabetes is a disease that happens when someone’s blood glucose is too high because their body doesn’t make enough insulin or it doesn’t work well to get the blood glucose into the cells where it can be used for energy.  Managing blood glucose can be achieved through eating healthy, daily physical activity, and taking prescribed medications as directed by one’s physician. A total 30 million Americans have diabetes and over 90 percent have Type 2 Diabetes.

How do you manage diabetes while everyone is safe-distancing at home during COVID-19?  The District 2 Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Diabetes team of Marsha Blair, Hockley CEA-FCH, Ann Millican, Terry CEA-FCH, Nicole Singleton, Dawson CEA-FCH, Courtney Lowe, Castro, Hale, Lamb EA-Health, and Kay Davis, Lubbock CEA-FCH can help.

“Diabetes During COVID-19” is a free online diabetes series to help people learn about diabetes management. Educational topics will include carbohydrate counting basics and healthy eating, how to count carbohydrates in your own recipes or while eating out and the importance of physical activity.
