When a cure for diabetes is found, the research that led to it will have been financed at least in part by fundraisers like the third annual Will Power that tookmto the Ritz Community Theatre stage Saturday.

The variety show raised $2,580 Saturday night with an additional $275 donated on Sunday, according to organizer Stacy Haley.

The fundraiser takes its name from Stacy’s son, Will, who has been living with Type I diabetes for seven years.

Stacy’s parents, Bill and Nancy Harris, other family members and friends pitched in to help make Will Power a success.

The Haley family, including father, Kyle, and sister, Olivia, are active fundraisers for the American Diabetes Association.

This weekend, the Haley family will participate in Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes at the MacKenzie Park baseball field in Lubbock.

Saturday’s variety show featured local talent performing show tunes and a skit.
