Neva Joyce Fuqua, 91, of Hermleigh died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

A private family graveside service will be held at Hillside Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Joshua Smith officiating. A community memorial service will be held at a later date. No visitation will be held. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

Joyce was born on April 18, 1929, in Snyder to Cecil and Mary (Walker) Hall. She married Brice Fuqua on April 8, 1955, in Colorado City. He preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 2018. Joyce was a school teacher for 35 years, having taught in Hermleigh, Ira and Hobbs. She received her degree in home economics from Texas Tech University and her Master's degree in elementary education from Sul Ross University. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hermleigh, Historic Scurry County, Retired Teachers Association and Altrurian Daughters. Her hobbies were cooking and volunteering.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Survivors include her daughter, Lori Williamson and her husband, John, of Snyder; her son, Brice Britt Fuqua and his wife, Lee, of Abilene; four grandchildren, Jordan Williamson of Hermleigh, Aaron Williamson of Orlando, Fla., Breanna Fuqua of Austin and Corrina Fuqua of Abilene; and two sisters, Jean Summer of Midland and Cele Gandy and her husband, John, of Christoval.
