Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church will serve up games, food and live music all day Sunday during its annual Jamaica celebration.

“It’s a fundraiser for the Catholic churches to raise money for things we need for the parish,” Jamaica chairman Carlos Jaramillo said. “It’s one way we raise money for things like repairs or books for CCE classes.”

The public is invited to attend.

“We raise money by selling food and drinks,” Jaramillo said. “We’ll be selling brisket and gorditas inside.”

Jaramillo has been at the church for 11 years and said that the Jamaica has been a tradition since before his arrival.

This year’s event will include train rides for the kids, jumping castles, six live bands, a volleyball tournament, a washer-pitching tournament and live dance performances.

“We all come together as church members to provide these things for the community and the kids,” Jaramillo said.

The Jamaica will take place from 10 a.m. to midnight at 1311 Ave. K. Bringing lawn chairs is encouraged.
