The two people arrested for tampering with evidence related to a double homicide have been released on bail.
Juan Barron, 24, and Nicole Dabney, 28, were released, on $10,000 bond, each from the Scurry County Jail. Barron and Dabney were arrested Sunday for tampering with evidence after two bodies were found under a trailer house in the 2100 block of Ave. Z.
The couple had gone to the law enforcement center at 9:13 a.m. Sunday to report an attempted break-in at the house at about 4 a.m. that day.
Snyder police arrived at the scene and found two deceased men under the trailer house.
Police were also able to locate a gunand knife at the scene.
Barron was also arrested on an outstanding warrant in Arizona for possession of marijuana.
Snyder Police Chief Terry Luecke said Monday that the two victims suffered stab and gunshot wounds. Luecke said that additional charges are possible as the investigation unfolds.
“Where it goes from here is after we’ve completed our investigation, we’ll forward this information to the district attorney’s office for their consideration on additional charges,” Luecke said.
Luecke also said evidence indicates that Barron and Dabney killed the two men.
“That’s the initial indication we have right now, and that’s what we believe occurred,” Luecke said. “Based on statements from the individuals involved in this, everything they’re telling us is consistent with what we find at the scene of a possible attempted home invasion.”
Due to the ongoing investigation, Luecke could not comment if drugs were involved in the incident.
The bodies of the two men were transported to Lubbock, with autopsies scheduled today.
Luecke said the police department is “about 99 percent sure” they have the identities of the two men, though he said he will wait to release any names until he can confirm their identities.
Several people claiming to be family members and friends have posted the names of the two victims on social media, but the Snyder Daily News is awaiting confirmation from the police department before releasing them.
