Big County Electric Cooperative offers four different scholarship opportunities for local students.
They are:
• Big Country EC Academic Scholarship: Two $4,000 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors whose parents/guardians are members of Big Country Electric Cooperative. The deadline to file is Feb. 28.
• Directors Memorial Scholarship, Golden Spread Electric Cooperative: $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to selected recipients who are entering a college or university as a freshman and the child or spouse of a Big Country Electric Cooperative member. The deadline to file is March 1.
• Texas Rural Electric Women’s Association (TREWA) Scholarship: Twenty TREWA scholarships of $1,500 each will be awarded to current TREWA members and their children. Applicant or the applicant’s parent or guardian must also be a current member or an employee of a Texas electric cooperative. Scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors, full-time college students or adults who have been accepted as a full-time student to attend any accredited college, university, junior college, community college, trade/technical school or business school of their choice. The deadline to file is March 15.
• Western Texas College Lineman Training Program Scholarship – Two $1,500 scholarships to students enrolled in the program. The deadline to file is Aug. 17.
