After a more than eight-month absence, Blue Bell Ice Cream is scheduled to return to local stores Dec. 14.
Jonathan Farmer, store director of United Supermarkets, said it was announced Monday that Blue Bell will be delivered to the store at 10 a.m. Dec. 14.
“We are very excited and our customers should be excited,” Farmer said. “I think everyone is very happy with this news.”
“I’ve almost forgotten what it tasted like,” Snyder resident Bridgette Green said. “I think we’ve missed it so much. This is really exciting.”
The Texas-based ice cream brand has not been sold at United since April, when Blue Bell recalled its products after an outbreak of listeriosis was linked to products. Since August, products from Blue Bell have been returning to select locations in phases. Phase two began in November and phase three will begin Dec. 14.
Farmer said that as far as he is concerned, the return of Blue Bell will not only be safe for consumption, but “better than before.” Farmer said the store is preparing for the return.
“We should have daily deliveries,” Farmer said. “We’re going to do our best to keep the shelves stocked.”
