In addition to the Running for the Heroes 5K run, local law enforcement is hosting a bowling tournament to raise money for Snyder police Cpl. Darrell Campbell and other first responders on Sept. 10.
Scurry County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeanette Pritchard said the first Bowling with the Badge tournament will be held at Snyder Lanes at 1 p.m., shortly after the end of the run. In the past, the run was followed by a softball or volleyball tournament.
Pritchard said the idea for the bowling tournament came from wanting to do something for all ages and something that could be done regardless of the weather.
“We thought there might be a chance for more people to participate if the event were indoors,” Pritchard said.
The entry fee is $100 per team of four people. Each team may have up to two alternates.
The tournament, along with the 5K run, will raise money for a group of law enforcement officers who have been injured in the line of duty, including Campbell.
