Citing an urgent need facing Texas law enforcement and their families, Rep. Dustin Burrows, R-Lubbock, filed legislation  that will create a law enforcement liaison within the Texas Department of Worker’s Compensation Agency.

“Officers are often left to their own devices to seek benefits, care and dispute resolution in the complex and slow-moving process of Worker’s Compensation claims,” Burrows said.

To complement House Bill 1688, Burrows filed House Bill 1689 that will allow legal action against agencies whose actions or decisions affecting compensation paid to law enforcement personnel is called into question.

Burrows met with current and former members of the law enforcement community and their families in the district in developing the bill.
