The Scurry County Museum’s held its annual Chocolate Fest on Saturday at the Development Corporation of Snyder (DCOS).
Participating vendors, retailers, and restaurants included The Winery at Willow Creek, Leticia’s Cookies, Misha’s Cakes, Mrs. Kathy’s Apple of my Pie, MacLin’s, Bucks & Bows, The Ruffled Rooster Boutique, and The Blessed Nest.
Many of the downtown merchants that stayed open for the event also offered discounts on their merchandise that night.
These vendors provided an abundance of chocolate and wine pairings, from chocolate peanut brittle trifles with a white blend to orange clove bar brownies with a port wine. Museum director Nicole DeGuzman said that there were approximately 26 varieties of chocolate, in addition to the chocolate fountain.
The museum also held a raffle for prizes donated to the cause, such as a fire pit from B’s Beverage Barn, a $100 gift card from The Butcher’s Block, a tanning package from Sun Candy Tan, a homemade quilt from Brooke Proctor, and a few other surprises.
DeGuzman said that attendance had stayed roughly the same since last year’s fundraiser, and that the museum hopes to keep the chocolatey tradition going for many years to come.
Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the mission of the museum which includes education, outreach, and public programs to over 8,000 visitors a year.
This fundraiser helps the museum to keep programs and admission free.
