After much of the county was snowed in for three days, people are ready to get out of the house. They’ll have their chance Saturday.
Saturday’s Scurry County Museum Chocolate Fest will feature food, games, wine, beer and, of course, chocolate.
The annual fundraiser will be held from 6-8 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Development Corporation of Snyder (DCOS), and additional businesses located around the square will be open.
Museum director Nicole DeGuzman said that participating vendors, retailers and restaurants will include The Winery at Willow Creek, Leticia’s Cookies, Misha’s Cakes, Mrs. Kathy’s Apple of my Pie, MacLin’s, Bucks and Bows, The Ruffled Rooster Boutique and The Blessed Nest. She said many of the retailers are also offering discounts on their merchandise that night.
The vendors will provide a variety of chocolate and wine pairings, from chocolate peanut brittle trifles with a white blend wine to orange clove bar brownies with a port wine. There will be more than 20 varieties of chocolate and a chocolate fountain.
Games will include a wine bottle ring toss with a chance to win bottles of wine and prizes such as a fire pit from B’s Beverage Barn, a $100 gift card from The Butcher’s Block, a tanning package from Sun Candy Tan, a homemade quilt from Brooke Proctor and a few other surprises. Each game is $10 to play.
Attendees will be given a list of vendors to visit. Once a person visits each location, their list may be turned in at the DCOS office for a chance to win prizes.
Tickets are available online today at www.eventbrite.com and may be purchased at the door for $30. Proceeds will benefit the mission of the museum which inwcludes education, outreach and public programs to over 8,000 visitors a year. This fundraiser helps the museum keep most programs and admission free for the public.
