For the first time in 18 months, Snyder sales tax revenues grew compared to last year, according to figures released by Comptroller Glenn Hegar.
This month, Snyder is schedule to receive $246,192, a 1.01 percent increase compared to the September 2015 total of $243,708. The allocations represent sales made in July.
The last time Snyder saw an increase in sales tax allocations was in February 2015, when the comptroller reported a 12.8 percent increase compared to February 2014.
Year-to-date, the city has received more than $1.9 million in allocations, down 27.6 percent compared to the 2015 total of more than $2.7 million.
Scurry County will receive $128,833 this month, down 23.44 percent compared to the $168,296 received last year. For the year, the county’s allocations are down 15.37 percent. Through nine months this year, the county has received more than $1.1 million, while during the same time period in 2015, the total was more than $1.4 million.
Hegar will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $629.2 million in local sales tax allocations for September, 1.4 percent less than in September 2015.
“The cities of Houston, Midland, San Antonio and Frisco saw decreases in sales tax allocation,” Hegar said. “The cities of Dallas and Plano saw noticeable increases in sales tax allocations.”
