Within a few weeks, road crews will begin the process of sealcoating about 150 blocks of city streets.

City of Snyder Public Works Director Eli Torres said crews will begin the sealcoating project around the second week of July.

The project, done in partnership with Scurry County, is expected to last five weeks and predominately involve roadways on the western half of Snyder.

Torres said work will begin in the area of Snyder High School and include Austin, Denison and Beaumont avenues, 32nd Street and Ave. V.

Other areas targeted for sealcoating include Ave. T to College Ave., 25th Street from Ave. T to Old Lubbock Hwy., Ave. Z from 3rd Street to 25th Street and Ave. T from 32nd Street to 25th Street.

During the work, crews will use an estimated 260 tons of asphalt and 1,650 tons of gravel, Torres said.

Residents will be notified by the city prior to the start of sealcoating in their areas, he said.
