Commission to decide fate of three substandard buildings

Three substandard buildings will be considered for demolition during Monday’s Building Standards Commission meeting.
Public hearings for buildings located at 903 30th Street, 3111 Ave. K and 2207 25th Street will be held beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the council chamber at Snyder City Hall. After each hearing, the commission is scheduled to take action on declaring the building a nuisance and ordering demolition.
The building on 30th Street, which is owned by Beatrice Solis, was found to have inadequate sanitation, hazardous wiring, inadequate maintenance and was not secured. According to City Inspector Dan Hicks’ report, the building is a fire hazard and unsanitary. 
The lot and building are valued at $1,500 and more than $167 in past due taxes and penalties are due dating back to 2015, records show.
Charles and Floya Collins are listed as the owners of the building on Ave. K. Hicks’ report noted the building has inadequate sanitation, maintenance and fire protection as well improper occupancy, faulty weather protection and is not secured. The building is also deemed to be a fire hazard.
The lot and building are valued at $2,700 and more than $298 in past due taxes and penalties are due dating back to 2015, records show.
The building on 25th Street, owned by the Adara Sue Ann Foster Trust, has inadequate sanitation and maintenance, according to Hicks’ report. The report also stated the building has faulty weather protection and improper occupancy, as well being a fire hazard and has been deemed a structural hazard.
The lot and building are valued at $19,399 and no past due taxes and penalties are due, records show.
Monday’s hearings and meeting are open to the public.
