Commissioners appoint Lindsey, Ochoa to panels

The Scurry County Commissioners’ Court approved the appointment of two new members to county boards during today’s meeting.
The court approved the appointment of Chloanne Lindsey to replace Trent Driggers on the Board of County Development (BCD) and approved the appointment of Leroy Ochoa to replace Candace Jones on the Scurry County Child Welfare Board.
The court also approved the sale of the property at 909 25th Street to Kirk Taylor for $125,000.
The court officially approved the tax abatement agreement with the Fluvanna Renewable Energy Project, LLC, after it had been listed on the Jan. 19 agenda as a discussion item.
After hearing from the county’s technology committee, the court approved the creation of an interview committee to go through the interview process and find out the cost of hiring an in-house information technology director.
The court approved a motion to review a purchase agreement from SolarCity regarding solar power and will consider it again at its Feb. 16 meeting.
The court approved a motion to go out for bids for a general contractor for the Cavendar Road truck bypass. The bids are scheduled to be opened on March 15, at the recommendation of the project engineer, David Todd of Hibbs and Todd, Inc.
The court granted Scurry County EMS Director Jason Tyler permission for his paramedics to attend out-of-state education in 2016, if necessary. The court also approved 18 election workers to work elections for the next two years.
The court heard a presentation from John Fedorko, project developer from Lincoln Clean Energy, regarding a potential wind energy project in Dermott.
There were no budget amendments or line-item transfers.
The court went into closed session at 11:11 a.m. to conduct its annual review of Scurry County Boys and Girls Club Director Ericka Dowds. At press time, the court was still in closed session.
