The Scurry County Commissioners’ Court will consider establishing a reinvestment zone for a planned wind farm in the Dermott area during Tuesday’s meeting.
The court will review a request to designate approximately 73,470 acres in the northwest part of the county as a reinvestment zone and authorizing the publication of the public notice to establish the zone.
Commissioners will also consider the date for a public hearing on the designation.
Commissioners will also discuss a possible tax abatement with Lincoln Clean Energy for the wind farm. Company officials have approached local tax entities about the abatement, which they said would be similar to the Fluvanna wind farm project.
Also during Tuesday’s meeting, the court will conduct its annual review of County Welfare Director Luann Grice during closed session. Any action from the review will be conducted when commissioners reconvene in open session.
Commissioners will consider a bid on the solar photovoltaic power purchase agreement, as well as bids for fuel, oil, grease, gravel, asphalt, scrap metal and iron, flexible base and flexible base freight. The court will also consider going out for bids for a 1993 fire truck.
The fourth quarter county treasurer’s report will be presented and the certification of additional revenue from proceeds from Avfuel, recouping some of the fuel and oil costs for Winston Field airport, will be voted on by the court.
Commissioners will consider accepting donations to the Scurry County Senior Citizens Center and line-item transfers and budget amendments.
The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in the Scurry County Courtroom, located on the third floor of the Scurry County Courthouse and is open to the public. There will be time for public comments.
