Scurry County Commissioners will discuss and may vote on the county’s Stay Home, Stay Safe order, which is set to expire just before midnight Tuesday, when they meet earlier that day.

The meeting will be open for public attendance.

The Stay Home, Stay Safe order went into effect March 27. Commissioners will decide whether to extend, continue or renew the order for up to an additional 30 days. They may also choose to let it expire.

During a meeting last Tuesday, commissioners decided to begin relaxing some of the order’s restrictions on retail shopping in accordance with Governor Greg Abbott’s statewide order. The governor’s order allows curbside pickup at many retail locations, requiring customers to order items in advance and for employees to carry the items out to customers’ cars.

The court will also discuss and consider a resolution related to countywide voting. During the March 3 primaries, Scurry County voters participated in a test run of a countywide voting system, in which voters could vote at any established county voting location regardless of their home precinct.

County leaders are seeking the state’s approval to make the system permanent.

In other business, commissioners will discuss and consider placing EMS Cares relief funds into the EMS Investment Fund.

The court will also consider line item transfers, budget amendments and accounts payable.

A time for public comment will be provided at the start of the meeting.

The meeting is open to the public and will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the third floor courtroom.

Social distance procedures will be observed.
