The Scurry County Commissioners’ Court will vote on the final version of a 10-year, 100-percent property tax abatement for Midwest Solar Power, LLC, on Tuesday.
The court approved the abatement in principle, but not the final version of the agreement for a solar array in the SnTx Industrial Park on land owned by Big Country Electric Cooperative. Big Country has agreed to purchase the electricity generated by the array and to later purchase the equipment after the abatement and a 30 percent tax credit expire. The Snyder City Council approved the abatement last week.
Also on Tuesday, commissioners will open proposals for grounds maintenance at the Scurry County Golf Course. The court will also consider a bid for roofing repairs on county property.
The court will vote on giving authority to Specialized Public Finance to seek the best bid for general obligation refunding bonds. Commissioners want to refinance the bonds for the Scurry County Jail construction. The court will also vote to give County Judge Ricky Fritz or County Auditor Angela Sanchez the authority to approve the bid.
“They’re wanting the commissioners to give approval so they can go out for bids on our behalf and come back and consult with Angela or myself,” Fritz said.
The court will consider a request from Scurry County Sheriff Trey Wilson to replace a jailer at the law enforcement center and consider renewing a service agreement with the County Information Resources Agency, the group that helps run the county website through the Texas Association of Counties.
Commissioners will hear a presentation from Historic Scurry County, Inc., regarding its annual Christmas event and vote on accepting donations to the Scurry County Senior Citizens Center and Scurry County Library.
Commissioners will also vote on any line-item transfers and budget amendments.
The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in the Scurry County Courtroom, located on the third floor of the Scurry County Courthouse, and is open to the public.
