There will be at least one contested race in May’s Snyder City Council election.
Challenger Mitch Hickman has filed paperwork to challenge Steve Rich for the District 2 seat during the May 2 election.
Rich and three other incumbents, Vernon Clay, District 1, Steve Highfield, District 3, and Thomas Strayhorn in District 4, have all previously filed for the position.
Two incumbents have filed for the Snyder ISD board of trustees, leaving one seat that no one has filed for.
One incumbent has filed for the Scurry County Hospital Board, leaving two seats open.
Both incumbents on the Scurry County College District board of directors have filed for re-election.
Those interested in running for a seat in any of the four May 2 elections may file weekdays through Feb. 14 at the administrative offices of the governing entity in question.
