The Snyder City Council will hold a public hearing before voting and discussing items related to a pair of multi-family housing projects when it meets remotely Monday.

After hearing information about a proposed apartment complex near the Scurry County Library at a previous meeting, the council is expected to vote on creating a reinvestment zone for the parcel -— which is located along Ave. T between 21st and 22nd streets and then will discuss, but not vote on, a tax abatement agreement with the developers, Llano Escondido, LLC.

A public hearing on creating the investment zone will be held before the council discussion and vote.

The council will also acknowledge the city’s receipt of an annexation request for 10.281 acres from Bill Smyrl K-Son, Inc.

The property is located south of Snyder’s city limits — near Hwy. 350 — where Smyrl plans to develop a 132-unit apartment complex. The request also asks for the city to install utilities to the parcel. According to the request, the property will not provide the city with an increased tax base.

The council is also expected to discuss, but not vote on, proposed Chapter 380 incentives.

The council will vote on the Snyder Chamber of Commerce’s quarterly reports for the first two quarters of 2020 and the city’s May financial report.

The council will also vote on a $1 million bid for water and sewer line improvements.

The meeting will be held remotely and begin at 5:30 p.m. The public may access the meeting online by going to zoom.com and entering meeting ID 85755817013 and password 7tB2dF.
