The City Council took no action in Monday night special meeting in the search for a new City Manager.

The council heard presentations from Strategic Government Resources, Inc. (SGR) and Clear Career Professionals

“We need to find someone with the right skillset,” Council member Sarah Jamison said.

“and with experience,” Council member Jeffery Levens followed.

“and not to hire someone based on emotion,” Council member Vernon Clay said.

Both companies would offer the service to hire a new City Manager. They would come in and visit with Mayor Stephanie Ducheneax and council member to talk about what strengths they are looking for in an applicant. Each candidates application would be available to council with the companies putting them in an order, with the needs expressed by council, to what they feel would be a right fit for Snyder.

They would narrow it down to around 12 applicants that would be interviewed by council for the job. The cost would  also cover a vast background check on each candidate.

“There is no reason to hurry this along,” Jamison said. “We need to take our time.”

“Yes,” Mayor Ducheneax said. “We don’t have to have someone in place immediately.”

Council was in agreement that not making a decision on a company at the meeting was imperative in talking it over with their constituents before a decision is made.

City Council will meet Monday for a regularly scheduled meeting and are hopeful to have a direction they go in the search for a City Manager.
