Custom Touch Village has closed its facility south of Snyder and is in the process of moving its building assets to other locations.
Custom Touch Village opened the Snyder location on South Hwy. 208 in July 2013 and aimed to provide workforce lodging for the oilfield industry
Regional manager Melissa Buchanan said the infrastructure at the Snyder location is still intact and the water system is still being maintained.
She said the company moved some of the buildings to other areas because of the current state of the oil industry in Snyder and the surrounding areas.
“It was a very difficult decision for us,” Buchanan said. “Part of our business model is we are portable. We relocated our buildings to places where the market is stronger. But when the oil bounces back, as it always does, we will move some more assets back to Snyder.”
At its peak, the Snyder location had 244 lodges and 55 RV sites.
Buchanan said Custom Touch has other locations in Texas and New Mexico and will soon have locations in Lake Charles, La. and Midland/Odessa. Lake Charles is home to several oil refineries.
The company had planned to open a location in Nolan County on I-20, but units were never placed on the land near the West Business I-20 exit.
