The Development Corporation of Snyder (DCOS) board of directors will vote on designating 36 acres in the SnTx Industrial Park as The Drone Zone during Wednesday’s meeting.
The board discussed the zone during two December meetings and wanted more clarification on signage and liability before approving the zone.
The board will also vote on constructing a parking pad that should cost less than $20,000, Executive Director Bill Lavers told the board last month.
Lavers was asked during a December meeting what would happen to the drone zone if a prospect wanted to buy the land.
“There would be no more drone zone. We would move it,” he said
Lavers said the DCOS could sell the land for $2,200 to $2,500 per acre.
Directors will also vote on partnering with Primary Utilities Services for a transmission line training center to be housed at the SnTx Industrial Park.
Lavers said Primary Utilities Services officials are looking to offer specialized training for their employees. He said more detailed information on the training center will be presented through a video Wednesday.
Two closed sessions will also be held during Wednesday’s meeting.
The agenda states the first closed session will be “to deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline or dismissal of a public officer or employee or to hear a complaint or charge against an officer or employee.”
The employee who is the subject of the deliberation may request the hearing be held in open session.
Lavers said the closed session is to discuss employee health insurance coverage. In November, the board authorized Executive Assistant Michelle Welch to explore other options for medical insurance.
The second is to discuss prospects, real property and incentives.
Any action from the closed sessions will be taken in open session.
The meeting will begin at 7 a.m. in the DCOS office boardroom, located at 2514 Ave R, and is open to the public.
