Districts announce calendars

The three local public school districts have announced their school calendars for the year.

Classes at Snyder Independent School District will begin Aug. 12, a Wednesday, while the last day of school will be May 28, 2021. 

Holidays during the year will be Labor Day, Sept. 7; Columbus Day, Oct. 9 and 12; Thanksgiving, Nov. 23-27; Christmas, Dec. 21-Jan. 4; Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jan. 18; President’s Day, Feb. 15; Spring Break, March 15-19; and Good Friday, April 2. Professional development days are the nine days before the start of school, as well as Jan. 3, adding an additional day to students’ Christmas break. 

At Ira, school begins Aug. 19 and runs through May 21. May 24 and 25 are listed as bad weather days. New teacher orientation is Aug. 7, while Aug. 10-18, Oct. 12, Jan. 4-5, Jan. 15, Feb. 15, Apr. 12, and May 22 are listed as professional development days. 

Holidays are Labor Day, Sept. 7; Thanksgiving, Nov. 25-27; Christmas break, Dec. 21-Jan. 5; Spring Break, Mar. 15-19; and Good Friday, Apr. 2. Students will be released early on Nov. 24, Dec. 18, Jan. 14, March 12 and May 21. 

The Hermleigh ISD will start classes on Thursday, Aug. 13, with staff development days preceding the start of school from Aug. 4-7 and Aug. 10-12. The last day of school for the year will be a half-day May 20. 

Holidays include Labor Day, Sept. 7; Columbus Day, Oct. 12; Thanksgiving break, Nov. 23-27; Christmas break, Dec. 21-Jan. 1 county stock show, Jan. 15; President’s Day, Feb. 15; Spring Break, March 15-19; and Good Friday, Apr. 2. Additional staff development dates are Jan. 4 (extending students’ Christmas break by a day) and May 21. Student half-days include Sept. 18, Oct. 30, Dec. 18, Feb. 12 and March 31, as well as May 20.
