A group of downtown Snyder merchants will ring in the holiday season, and hopefully encourage local residents to spend more of their gift-buying dollars in town.
The Snyder Downtown Merchants Association will host an open house Sunday, Nov. 10, from noon until 6 p.m.
“All of us that have businesses on The Square, we have basically formed a Snyder downtown business association,” said Michelle Kuhl of The Ruffled Rooster Boutique. “We have decided to come together and hold an open house. So each business will be open Sunday from 12 to 6 (p.m.).”
In addition to The Ruffled Rooster, other businesses participating in the open house include The Blessed Nest, Apple of My Pie, MacLin’s, J316 Coffee House, Sideline Nutrition, Bucks and Bows and Just D’vine, Kuhl said.
In addition to the stores, events and activities will be taking place in the Development Corporation of Snyder (DCOS) office and outdoors around the square.
“Most of us will have refreshments in their shops and have some deals going,” she said. “The courthouse is going to turn on their new lights at 6 o’clock that evening. The Scurry County Historical Society is going to be inside of DCOS, and they’re going to be doing some gift wrapping as a fundraiser, and they’re going to have Santa inside the DCOS and be doing family pictures with Santa.”
Vendors and food trucks will be set up around the square, she added.
The Snyder Downtown Merchants Association is a new group, and this is their first open house, Kuhl said.
“This is our first year to do this as a group. We’ve all done our open houses, previously, but we have just formed our downtown association,” she said. “Our ‘Ghouls’ Night,’ which was just a week ago, was our first downtown association event, and our open house will be our second. We’re just super excited about this event.”
