Snyder’s downtown merchants are hoping to draw a crowd to Saturday’s Spring Sip and Shop.

Many downtown businesses and additional vendors will be open from 10 a.m. until dark.

Michelle Bird, owner of the Blessed Nest, said there will be food trucks and musical entertainment in the downtown area all day.

“This time it will fall on a Saturday and we will have bands all day,” Bird said. “And the food trucks will be set up all day Friday, too.”

Musical performances in front of Times Square Frozen Yogurt and Coffee House will begin at 10:30 a.m. with Lori Sealy followed by the Snyder High School Jazz Band at 12:30 p.m. Marcus Rios will perform at 4 p.m.

Rios will perform at 11 a.m. in the downtown plaza, followed by Sealy at 1 p.m. and Southern Trail at 3:45 p.m.

At 6 p.m., 6 Mile Curve Band will perform in the courthouse gazebo.

Downtown merchants participating are Times Square Frozen Yogurt and Coffee House, Nana Bear’s Notions, Delirious Digs at Speckled Herd Market, Granny Fay’s Closet, Classic Interiors, 1818 Arthouse, W.R. Whistle Stop, Development Corporation of Snyder, Mrs. Kathy’s Apple of My Pie, Blessed Nest and Maclin’s online boutique.

Additional vendors will have tables in the downtown plaza as well as on the courthouse lawn and on storefront sidewalks.

Merchants will serve wine and the Snyder Chamber of Commerce will sell beer in the downtown plaza.

Bird said she and the other organizers are thankful for all the merchants who are participating to make it possible to bring this event to the downtown area in Snyder.

“We encourage everyone to bring a lawn chair and enjoy the music, food and shopping all day,” Bird said.

Chamber events coordinator Josh Ortegon said the chamber is participating to promote local shopping.
