Drought conditions are moving back into the region, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor map released today.
While Scurry County is still considered drought-free, portions of Dawson and Lynn counties are listed as abnormally dry, the lowest of the five drought stages.
Currently, 95 percent of the state is drought free, which is up 30 percent (61.2 percent) from three months ago and 70 percent (24.8 percent) from this time last year.
Through Wednesday, Scurry County has received 14.86 inches of rain.
Forty-eight counties, including Garza, Taylor and Howard counties, are currently under a burn ban, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.
The National Weather Service seven-day forecast included mostly sunny skies for Snyder with highs in the mid 90s and lows in the 70s. The forecast does not predict any rain through Wednesday.
