The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Texas Ranger Unsolved Crimes Investigation Team are seeking leads in the unsolved murder of Colorado City teenager Hailey Dunn.
The announcement made Wednesday is part of the DPS’ new public awareness program featuring one unsolved case each month.
On Dec. 27, 2010, Dunn, 13, left her mother’s house to go to a friend’s house, but never arrived and was reported missing.
On March 16, 2013, Dunn’s remains were discovered near Lake J.B. Thomas in Scurry County.
Scurry County Sheriff Trey Wilson, the lead investigator for the Dunn case, said there have not been any recent developments in the case. Wilson said the investigation is still active and asks the public to call the sheriff’s office or DPS if they have any information.
Anyone with information may also call the Missing Persons Clearinghouse at (800) 346-3243 or submit a tip through the Texas Rangers’ unsolved homicides website.
The Texas Ranger Unsolved Crimes Investigation Team was created to assist Texas law enforcement agencies investigating unsolved murders or what appear to be serial or linked criminal transactions.
