Early morning storm brings more than an inch of rain

A storm system that passed through Scurry County early this morning brought rain, lightning and thunder, but caused very little damage.
The thunderstorm system came through Snyder at about 4 a.m. today, causing the National Weather Service (NWS) to issue a severe thunderstorm warning for this area.
The storm dumped more than an inch of rain in parts of Scurry County. 
Western Texas College reported 1.42 of precipitation, while 0.86 of an inch of rain was recorded at the SnTx Industrial Park.
Fluvanna recorded .26 of an inch of rain, while Gail reported 0.67 of an inch of precipitation, according to the West Texas Mesonet.
The heavy rain quickly flooded low-lying areas, but caused little in the way of damage, although there was a report of debris on Hwy. 350 southwest of Snyder. No traffic accidents related to the storm were reported to law enforcement as of 9 a.m. today.
The storm left an estimated 28 Oncor customers without electricity this morning. Company officials estimated power would be restored by mid-day.
Conditions are expected to be partly cloudy to sunny through the weekend, but NWS is forecasting at 60 percent chance of thunderstorms for Monday. Temperatures are expected to range from the mid-50s to the high 80s, the weather service predicted.
