Polls throughout Scurry County will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday for the general election.
Twelve different polling locations will be open, County Clerk Melody Appleton said. They are:
• Pct. 5 — Fluvanna Community Center.
• Pct. 6 — Union Baptist Church.
• Pct. 7 — Scurry County Library.
• Pct. 8 — East side of Towle Park barn.
• Pct. 9 — Ira ISD’s Roy Sallee Gym.
• Pct. 10 — West side of Towle Park barn.
• Pct. 11 — Dunn Community Center.
• Pct. 12 — South side of The Coliseum.
• Pct. 13 — Hermleigh Community Center.
• Pct. 14 — Northeast Community Center.
• Pct. 15 — North side of the The Coliseum.
When voting, residents must provide a state-approved form of photo identification.
The seven forms of state-approved photo ID are:
• Texas driver license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
• Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by the DPS.
• Texas personal identification card issued by the DPS.
• Texas license to carry a handgun issued by the DPS.
• United States military identification card containing the person’s photograph.
• United States citizenship certificate containing the person’s photograph.
• United States passport.
Appleton said if a voter does not possess and cannot reasonably obtain one of the seven forms of photo ID, they may vote by signing a declaration at the polls explaining why they are reasonably unable to obtain it and by providing supporting documentation.
Supporting documentation can be an original, certified birth certificate, a valid voter registration certificate or a copy or original current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document that shows the voter’s name and an address.
Government documents which include a photo must be original and cannot be copies.
If a voter meets these requirements and is otherwise eligible to vote, they will be able to cast a ballot in the election.
The Hermleigh ISD board of trustees’ election will be held at the Hermleigh Community Center and polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Scurry County voting results of the presidential, District 19 U.S. House of Representatives and Hermleigh ISD board elections will be posted on the Snyder Daily News Facebook page once they are available and appear in the Nov. 9 edition with complete election night coverage.
No county offices are being contested this year.
