Games, candy and biblical lessons will highlight the Family Fall Fest at the Scurry County Boys and Girls Club on Oct. 29.
The event is free to the public and will be held from 4:30-6 p.m. Four local churches and Snyder ISD’s Afterschool Centers for Education are sponsoring the event.
Sheila O’Quin, the director of outreach at First United Methodist Church of Snyder, is the primary organizer and said the idea was to give children a chance to have fun while also providing a safe and welcoming atmosphere.
“We knew we were going to have a fall fest,” O’Quin said. “We wanted to have it at a neutral location, not at a church, so that everyone could feel welcome.”
First United Methodist, First Baptist Church, East Side Church of Christ and Heaven Bound Cowboy Church are holding the event.
O’Quin said it is not too late for other churches, businesses, organizations or individuals to get involved.
O’Quin expects a crowd of 250 people and said the afternoon start time will allow residents to participate in other Halloween activities that day.
“We wanted the kids to be able to do this as well as other things,” O’Quin said.
