At least 15 vendors selling a variety of produce, crafts and collectibles are expected at the first Snyder Farmers Market at The Coliseum Saturday.
The Coliseum Event Coordinator Kiera Harris said there are 15 vendors who have committed to be at the market and said she hopes for even more to register before Saturday. Harris said she would like for vendors to have their registration form completed and turned in by today.
Harris said she is excited about the wide variety of goods that will be sold.
“We have a good range of things,” Harris said. “I was happily surprised. There will be kettle corn, plants, potatoes, squash, arts and crafts items and candles.”
Saturday’s market day will be the first of five this year. They will be held on the second Saturday of each month through October.
The vendor fee is $10 per booth, per event, or $40 for a season pass, which includes all five days.
Each market will begin at 8 a.m. and will include live entertainment.
This weekend’s event coincides with the West Texas Western Swing Festival and the entertainment will be provided by the morning jam session outside The Coliseum.
Harris said she believes the timing of the first weekend will be a great catalyst for the farmers market.
“Having it at the same time as Western Swing and the jam session should help,” Harris said. “There will already be hundreds of people out there for Western Swing so they can come by the jam session and the market. Plus, it’s free to attend the market.”
