Preparations are in full swing at the Snyder Chamber of Commerce as they gear up for the 2018 West Texas Western Swing Festival.
The annual festival will be held June 6-9 at The Coliseum and will include performances by nine bands, a jam session and a Burger and Bean supper.
“We’re known as the one of the best Western Swing festivals in the area,” Events Coordinator Josh Ortegon said. “People have given us lots of feedback about our festival. They say that everyone in Snyder is nice, that our community is beautiful and they appreciate that we offer transportation to and from RVs and food on site.”
Western Swing festivities will begin June 6 with a Welcome Home Burger and Bean Supper at 6 p.m. and a jam session at 7 p.m.
On June 7, there will be performances by Larry Lange and the Lone Star Troubadours, Rance Norton and the Cadillac Cowboys and Jeff Woolsey and The Dance Hall Kings.
On June 8, there will be performances by The Rocky King Band, Bobby Flores and The Yellow Rose Band and Jody Nix and The Texas Cowboys.
On June 9, there will be performances by Landon Dodd and The Dancehall Drifters, Billy Mata and Texas Tradition and Jake Hooker and The Outsiders.
All performance times will be from noon to 4:15 p.m. and from 6:30-11 p.m.
Tickets may be purchased by visiting the chamber of commerce or calling 573-3558. Tickets are $15 for a half-day pass, $25 for a full-day pass or $60 for an all-week pass.
There are about 40, 30-amp RV spots left, but all 50-amp RV spots have been rented.
“We really encourage people to come and check out what Western Swing is all about,” Ortegon said. “Western Swing is for every one of all ages. It’s family-friendly, and there will be lots of shopping this year.”
