With gyms closed, people are finding creative ways to stay in shape at home.
From creating home gyms to using household items as weights, people are finding creative ways to get exercise even while stuck at the house. Anytime Fitness Director of Training Victoria Kassin said trainers have been staying in touch with clients and sending them workouts, and the gym staff is looking for more ways to help members stay active.
“We’re in the process of getting in place to stream some online workouts,” Kassin said.
She said they are currently posting workouts from the corporate office as they wait to see whether they will be able to reopen soon. Kassin said that the best way to stay in shape without going to the gym is to get creative.
“There are lots of exercises that you can do with just your body weight, but you can get creative, too,” she said.
“Use a gallon of water as weight, or I’ve seen a lot of people use their dogs, and do squats with their dogs, so it’s been kind of fun to just see how people are getting creative and being able to stay in shape at home.”
Jumping jacks, squats, lunges, planks, crunches, push-ups, tricep dips and burpees are good exercises to perform at home that don’t require any extra equipment. Gym staff are taking precautions to prevent the spread of Coronavirus when the gym is allowed to re-open.
“We’ve been having our trainers and staff come up here for shortened hours, and we’ve been cleaning down the entire gym, every nook and cranny that we can get to,” Kassin said. “We’re taking advantage of this down time to do that.”
