First earthquake reported in county since January 2015

For the first time since January 2015, an earthquake registered on the Richter scale in Scurry County.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported a 2.9 magnitude earthquake at 3:02 a.m. today north of Snyder. No reports of damage were reported to the law enforcement center.
The last time an earthquake was reported by the USGS was on Jan. 17, 2015 when a 3.5 magnitude quake registered northeast of Snyder.
The largest earthquake in county history was a 4.3 magnitude quake recorded on Sept. 11, 2011.
