Close to 100 Scouts and their family members are expected to camp out at Towle Park this weekend for the 21st annual Snyder fish-a-thon.
James Bond, chairman of the fish-a-thon, said that due to park rules only Scouts and immediate family members are allowed to camp. However, anyone is welcome to fish at Saturday’s event, which is a fundraiser for the Buffalo Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America in Scurry County.
“Last year, we probably had about 250 to 300 people fish,” Bond said. “We’re hoping to have even more people this year.”
Registration will start at 7 a.m. Saturday and the fishing will go from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Participants will not be required to have a license. The pond was stocked with channel catfish and is closed until Saturday to public fishing.
Prizes will be awarded throughout the day and grand prizes will be presented at 4 p.m. All of the prizes were donated
All vendor spots have been filled, Bond said.
