Hermleigh ISD will have an election on Nov. 6.
With more than two weeks remaining in the filing period, five people, including two incumbents, have filed for the three board of trustees’ seats on the ballot.
Incumbents Bubba Botts and Gerald Rodriguez will be joined on the ballot by Jack Hardy, John Hardy Jr. and Michael Hildebrand. Incumbent Jim Lionberger has not filed for another term.
Filing for the Hermleigh election is being held in the administration office weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Only one person has filed to run in the Ira ISD board of trustees election. Jason Gruben submitted his paperwork to school officials. The seats currently held by Justin Donnelson, Dirk Dunn, Meagan Shultz and Dennis Taylor are up for election this year.
Candidates may file in the business manager’s office Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The filing period will close on Aug. 20, school officials said.
The deadline for write-in candidates for the Nov. 6 general election is Aug. 24. To date, no one has filed to run as a write-in for a county office. Write-in candidates must file paperwork in the county judge’s office in order to have their name listed on the write-in list.
The federal and statewide office write-in list will be announced by the Texas Secretary of State’s office in late August.
A person must register by Oct. 9 in order to be eligible to vote in the election.
Early voting is scheduled for Oct. 22 through Nov. 2.
Early voting for the general election will be held on the first floor of the Scurry County Courthouse while early voting for the Hermleigh ISD election will be held in the community center.
