The Christmas season in Snyder will kick into high gear Saturday, with a parade, holiday music and, of course, Santa Claus.
Saturday’s schedule kicks off with Snyder Trade Days, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Towle Park armory and barn. Santa Claus will visit with children from 9.-11:30 a.m.
At 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ritz Community Theater, the Tuesday Troupe Christmas Spectacular will feature children performing Christmas songs. Tickets are $5 each.
“A Very Rudolph Christmas” is the theme of the Snyder Chamber of Commerce’s annual lighted Christmas parade, which will wrap up Saturday’s activities.
Chamber Events Coordinator Josh Ortegon said 18 floats had signed up as of 9 a.m. today, which is more than last year’s number of entries.
Lineup for the parade will be at 5:30 p.m. Saturday on the Snyder Shopping Center parking lot, with the parade beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The parade will travel north on College Ave. from Snyder Shopping Center, circle around the courthouse square and conclude at the First Baptist Church parking lot.
Today is the last day to enter a float or vehicle in the parade. The top three entries will receive Chamber Bucks, Ortegon said.
The fifth annual Community Christmas Tree lighting will be held immediately after the parade in the downtown plaza.
Weather permitting, Santa Claus will arrive by helicopter at 7:15 p.m. on the First Baptist Church parking lot and then be transported to the plaza, where he will visit with children.
In case of high winds or rain, Santa will ride in the parade and go directly to the plaza.
