The world-famous Harlem Globetrotters took over Snyder’s Coliseum Wednesday.
The Globetrotters drew a crowd estimated at more than a thousand people, but the Washington Generals almost spoiled the party, as they led 41-39 with under a minute to go.
A last second dunk by Hi-Rise Hinton lifted the Globetrotters to a 43-41 victory, much to the delight of those in attendance.
The majority of the Globetrotters’ points came on dunks from Hinton, Moose Weekes and Beast Douglas, with the occasional four-point shot as well.
The game took a backseat however, when Hi-Lite Bruton stole the show.
From teasing the referee to pulling a fan onto the court and giving Globetrotter merchandise away, Bruton had a good time and entertained the crowd in The Coliseum Wednesday.
The big selling point of the Pushing the Limits tour is the team attempts to set a record at every show.
At The Coliseum Wednesday, Bruton attempted a blind-folded, hook shot from beyond half court, but the shot did not fall.
Other highlights included Hot Shot Swanson, a four-foot-five guard, running between defenders’ legs and Wham Middleton’s dancing on the basketball hoop.
For one Globetrotter, the trip to The Coliseum was a reunion of sorts.
Brawley “Cheese” Chisolm is known for his deep-range accuracy and his signature dance move with the Globetrotters, but the New York native got his collegiate basketball career started at Western Texas College in 2006.
Chisolm played two years as a Westerner and was a part of the team that went 18-11 in 2008.
After his time at WTC, Chisolm went on to play at Ball State University, where he spent two seasons as a starter. After college, he tried out and made the Harlem Globetrotters team and has traveled with the team ever since.
After the game, fans were given the chance to meet the players and collect autographs on the court.
