A Snyder man found guilty of possession of a controlled substance last month was indicted by a Scurry County grand jury this week for aggravated perjury.
Tray Don Goswick, 31, was indicted for making a false statement under oath during his jury trial in the 132nd Judicial District Court.
Goswick had the “intent to deceive and with knowledge of the statement’s meaning, make a false statement under oath, namely, that at the time of his arrest on Oct. 21, 2015, he believed the substance he possessed was bath salts and not methamphetamine,” the indictment stated.
During the sentencing phase of the trial, District Attorney Ben Smith told jurors during his closing arguments that Goswick lied on the stand.
He was sentenced to 10 years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice facility by the jury.
His bond for the perjury charge, which is a third-degree felony, was set at $5,000.
