Grand jury hands down eight indictments

Eight people were indicted by a Scurry County grand jury this week.

Billie Jean Harris, 55, of Snyder, was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, a third-degree felony. According to the indictment, Harris was found in possession of more than one gram, but less than four grams, of cocaine on Sept. 25. Bond was set at $25,000.

The indictment stated Harris was previously convicted in Hale County in 1993 for theft and delivery of a controlled substance in a drug-free zone in Scurry County in 2011.

Anthony Medrano Jr., 31, of Snyder, was indicted for third-degree felony escape. On Dec. 1, Medrano escaped the custody of the Scurry County Community Work Service crew, the indictment stated. Bond was set at $10,000.

Pamela Yvette Johnson, 50, of Snyder, was indicted for theft, a state-jail felony. On Oct. 7, Johnson was arrested for stealing body wash and deodorant from her victim, according to the indictment. Bond was set at $5,000.

The indictment stated Johnson was previously convicted for theft in 2014, burglary of a building in 1987 and securing execution of a document by deception in 1992, all in Scurry County.

Curtis Ray King, 53, of Snyder, was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, a state-jail felony. He was found in possession of less than one gram of cocaine on Sept. 25. Bond was set at $5,000.

The indictment stated King was convicted of possession of a controlled substance in 2006 and evading arrest in 2012, both in Scurry County.

Andres Hermosillo, 52, of Snyder, was indicted for state-jail felony possession of a controlled substance. He was found in possession of less than one gram of methamphetamine on Sept. 8, the indictment stated. Bond was set at $5,000.

John Tracy Loyola III, 32, of Snyder, was indicted for evading arrest, a third-degree felony. On Nov. 24, Loyola used a vehicle to flee from law enforcement, the indictment stated. Bond was set at $5,000.

John Chadwick Goebel, 29, of Snyder was indicted for forgery, a third-degree felony. The indictment stated Goebel forged a $78 check without his victim’s approval on June 2. The victim was over the age of 65, the indictment noted. Bond was set at $5,000.

Brandon Lynn Leatherwood, 34, of Snyder, was indicted for state-jail felony forgery. He wrote a check of $1,300 on Nov. 5 and another for $1,400 on Nov. 8 on the account of a Snyder business. Bond was set at $5,000.
