Heritage Village Christmas, a fundraiser hosted by Historic Scurry County, Inc., will be held at 5 p.m. Dec. 1.
Elyndabeth Toland, president of Historic Surry County, said this year’s entertainment will include choirs from Snyder Primary School, Snyder Intermediate School and Snyder Junior High School, as well as the Snyder High School jazz band.
Children will be able to see Santa enter the village in an antique vehicle at 5:15 p.m.
For a $1 donation, parents may take a picture of their child with Santa Claus aboard the Polar Express, which will be the locomotive located on The Coliseum grounds.
A bake sale will be held inside the Dermott School, where children will be able to visit with Santa and take pictures. Games will include sack races, ring the reindeer and toilet tissue toss in the outhouse.
“Last year we had 1,000 people. We are hoping to have more this year,” Toland said.
She said children will be able to mail letters to Santa at the Dunn Post Office.
Each building will be open and four will be decorated by employees of local financial institutions. The public, through donations, will vote on the best decorated building.
The evening will also include S’mores and hot dogs around a campfire.
For a donation, Jerry Starr will give haircuts in the Fluvanna Barbershop. The Pete Snyder Store will also be open and hot biscuits and coffee available.
All proceeds from the event will be used to paint the Redwood Chapel and make other needed repairs at the village.
