Hermleigh, Ira trustees to call Nov. 6 elections

The Hermleigh ISD and Ira ISD school boards will each hold a special meeting on Monday to call the Nov. 6 board election.
The Hermleigh board  meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in the administration office boardroom. 
Through Friday, seven people have filed to run in the election. Incumbents Bubba Botts and Gerald Rodriguez will be joined on the ballot by Jack Hardy, John Hardy Jr., Michael Hildebrand, Jack Pence and Justin White. Incumbent Jim Lionberger has not filed for another term.
Filing will end at 4 p.m. Monday and candidates may complete paperwork in the administration office.
The Ira ISD board will meet at 5:45 p.m. in Superintendent Brian Patterson’s office.  
Through Friday, eight people, including three current board members, filed for the four seats on the board. Current board members Justin Donnelson, Dirk Dunn and Meagan Shultz will be on the ballot along with Jerry Jamison, Jason Gruben, Tanner Poole, Justin Taylor and Bill Walker. Board president Dennis Taylor said he is not running for another term.
The filing period ends at 5 p.m. Monday and candidates may pick up a packet in the business manager’s office. 
Early voting will be held Oct. 22 through Nov. 2.
In Hermleigh, early voting will be held in the Hermleigh Community Center. In Ira, early voting will be held in the Roy Sallee Gym lobby. Both locations will be the respective polling site on Nov. 6. 
A person must be registered to vote by Oct. 9 in order to cast a ballot.
Both Monday meetings are open to the public.
