Hermleigh ISD’s school board will hear several reports during a routine meeting set for Tuesday evening.

Trustees will hear an update on the district’s enrollment for the first six weeks of the 2017-18 school year, as well as reports from the principal, superintendent, athletic director and maintenance supervisor.

Superintendent Brent Dawson said enrollment currently stands at 253 students, 10 more than at the end of the first six weeks last year and one less than the start of the current school year.

That enrollment figure, Dawson said, is close to optimum for the school district.

“I think around 250 students is where we like to be,” Dawson said. “Anywhere around that number is a good target for us.”

Special recognition will be given to three students — Reese Elder, the top elementary student for the first six weeks, Jacy Messick, the top junior high school student for the first six weeks and Luis Gonzales, the top high school student for the first six weeks.

The board will also approve bill payments and the district’s investment report and will consider personnel matters.

Tuesday’s meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the school’s board room. It is open to the public and time has been set aside for public comment.
