The Hermleigh ISD board of trustees will review applications for the superintendent’s position during Monday’s meeting.
The deadline to submit an application for the position, which became vacant when Ronnie Roemisch announced his retirement last month, was midnight Friday.
The review will be held during a closed session and Roemisch said the board is not expected to take any action.
Also during the closed session, the board will review the contract for Principal Eddie Richardson. Any action from that closed session will be conducted in open session.
A separate closed session will be held to consult with the district’s attorney regarding possible litigation and construction defects at Hermleigh ISD facilities. Roemisch could not disclose information about the defects, but said the students and faculty are safe.
The board is not expected to take any action after that discussion.
The board is expected to repeal all board policies and adopt an updated local policy handbook.
Roemisch said he reviewed all current policies with the Texas Association of School Boards and several revisions were made. The association recommended repealing the current policies and adopting the updated handbook.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the school district boardroom and is open to the public.
