The Scurry County Hospital District board of directors will discuss and possibly vote to approve bids for the operating room and OB department renovations during Thursday’s meeting.
During a Nov. 3 meeting, James Hicks, with Wiley Hicks Construction, and Richard Constancio, with Shiver-Migert and Associates, updated the board on the delays and project designs.
Constancio said the reason for the construction delays was that the OB and third floor design plans are “equipment and mechanically heavy.” He said extra work needed to be done in designing the project to make sure equipment would be placed in the correct areas and lighting issues were addressed.
The OB department will be in what is now the day clinic area and the current OR area will be redesigned into C-section rooms.
The operating area will be on the third floor and will include two suites.
The construction is being funded through a $10 million loan through First Bank and Trust.
Also during Thursday’s meeting, the board will hold a closed session to discuss personnel. Any action will be conducted when the board reconvenes in open session.
Policies to be presented for board approval are administration, businesses officer/accounting, central supply/purchasing, compliance, environment of care, environmental science, health information management, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and management information services.
The board is expected to authorize Cogdell Memorial Hospital (CMH) Chief Executive Officer Ella Raye Helms to proceed with physician recruitment and computer system upgrades.
A change to the board bylaws will be presented for approval and directors will vote on the appointment of CMH Foundation board members.
The meeting will begin at 7:30 a.m. in the administration wing boardroom, and is open to the public.
