Hotel tax receipts were up during second quarter

With the addition of Hampton Inn Snyder, the taxable hotel/motel receipts for Snyder increased during the second quarter of 2015, according to figures from the Comptroller of Public Accounts Office.
During the second quarter, Snyder had taxable receipts totaling more than $1.7 million, an increase of more than $200,000 compared to the first quarter figure of $1.49 million.
Holiday Inn Express topped the local hotels with taxable receipts of $528,733. During the first quarter, Holiday Inn had taxable receipts of $526,697.
Baymont Inn and Suites had the second highest total at $332,763, which is an increase compared to the first quarter total of $293,505.
Hampton Inn Snyder, which opened in May, had the third highest total at $158,468 and Best Western Snyder Inn had taxable receipts totaling $158,422.
Snyder has a total of 646 hotel/motel rooms available, which is801 more than the first quarter total of 565.
The state collects a 6 percent tax on hotel room stays. Cities and some counties also collect a tax on hotel stays.
The City of Snyder budgeted an increase in hotel occupancy tax revenues for the 2015-16 fiscal year.
The city budgeted $575,000 for 2015-16, a $75,000 increase compared to last year’s budget total of $500,000.
