Ira ISD’s Board of Trustees accepted five new 11- and 12-month employee contracts.
Trustees unanimously approved campus activities, technology and agriculture science updates from principal Dale Jones, financial reports from business manager Keeli Hines and contract renewal recommendations, wind farm and facilities updates from superintendent Brian Patterson.
Principal Jones noted that Ira would have UIL competitions coming up, including  one-act play competitions Monday and UIL academic competitions on March 24.
The board discussed the possibility of purchasing Chromebook laptop computers for grades 7-12, but instead opted to use the iPads they already have for one more year.
The board approved the purchase of an ID badge machine for use in the front office, and the purchase of ACT exams for students, to be reimbursed to the school at a later date.
Patterson provided an update on plans for a new wind farm, the construction of which will begin in June 2020.
He also noted that the soil on the fields at the baseball and softball fields has recently been replaced.
