An Ira native was named 2019 Texas Realtor of the Year at the Texas Realtors Winter Meeting, held last month in Austin.
El Paso’s Scott Kesner, owner of four Century 21 locations operating under the franchise name “The Edge,” including one location in Snyder, won the award.
“I found out that night at the awards assembly,” he said. “My wife and kids, and I think everybody knew but me. I’ve been really involved in the association and the industry for about 25 years.”
Kesner currently serves as the chairman of the Texas Real Estate Commission.
He served as a regional vice president of the National Association of Realtors in 2018, and as president of the Texas Realtors in 2015.
He was named El Paso Realtor of the Year in 2003 and 2015.
He lives in El Paso with his wife Paula. He’s the father of Tara, Reagan and Declan, and the grandfather of Briar.
“It’s really exciting to win it in the sense that, all the positions I’ve ever taken at the state and local level have been volunteer positions,” Kesner said. “It’s been, I guess, probably 20 years of volunteering and chairing probably nine different committees or taskforces at the state level. It kind of shows that everything you’ve done has been appreciated, and you think you’ve moved the industry forward. It wasn’t just showing up, but actually moving the industry forward. You also realize how much time you’ve spent doing this. It’s a great honor but you know what? My years have been appreciated. It’s kind of hard to describe.”
